There’s a drug addiction treatment center that provides the utmost privacy for high profile patients such as actors, athletes, politicians and other prominent personalities as well as their immediate family. Of course, other drug rehabs also value the privacy of their clients but there’s nothing like a substance abuse treatment center that puts premium on the confidentiality of who enters through its doors to seek professional help for their addiction problems.

This particular drug rehab facility crossed my mind this afternoon after a friend of mine shared her encounter with a TV actor who was apparently high on drugs during her interview with him. My friend is a correspondent for a teeny bopper magazine and she was privileged to interview the actor right at his residence.

She interviewed the actor for her magazine feature on his lifestyle and other interests aside from show business. Since it’s a lifestyle feature, part of the agreement with the actor’s publicist was that she could see the actor’s bedroom and ask him about the contents of his closet.

My friend and her photographer arrived at the actor’s house 15 minutes earlier than their scheduled interview. The actor wasn’t there yet when they arrived so they both waited. The actor’s mom was home and she was very accommodating while they waited, chatting with them and offering them snacks and drinks. The mom was so nice to them that they tried not to show their irritation when they realized that they had been waiting for 30 minutes already and there was still no sign of the actor.

As their waiting time approached to one hour, the actor’s mom started apologizing repeatedly and told them that she had been trying to contact her son’s mobile phone but he wasn’t picking up. My friend phoned the actor’s publicist and told him that his client seemed to have ditched their appointment. The publicist also expressed his apologies and promised to set another schedule for the interview if she still wanted to pursue her magazine feature on his client.

They just finished saying goodbye to the actor’s mom and were about to leave the house when the actor arrived, walking through the doorway with a stoned look on his face. He apologized shortly for being late after his mom scolded him for not keeping his schedule. My friend decided to push through with the interview although she was already very annoyed by the actor’s lack of professionalism.

The interview was very quick because the actor really didn’t have much to say. His answers were very brief and he seemed unable to expound on any subject my friend tried to get him to talk about. They went to his room and the photographer did his job of shooting him in various poses of tinkering with his bedside gadgets, sitting on the bed, watching TV, playing with his Xbox 360, and showing the contents of his closet.

It was only after they left the house that the photographer told my friend that the actor was obviously high on drugs. He cited some signs such as the actor’s stoned look when he arrived, his uneasiness, the beads of sweat that kept forming on his forehead even though the temperature inside the house was quite chilly, and his inability to concentrate on the questions his interviewer asked him. My friend was surprised by the photographer’s observations because she did think the actor looked different and seemed to be rather catatonic for most of the interview, but she never guessed that he was high at the time.

I told my friend that perhaps she could help the actor by telling his publicist or his mom about the drug rehabilitation center that provides private rehab treatments. She should just be careful in telling them about it so as not offend them but instead express her sincerity in wanting to help the actor before his drug problem ruins his career.
