Hawaii Celebrates Its Bounty During National Park Week

Published on 04. 19. 2016

It’s hard to believe but the U.S. National Park Service is celebrating its 100th birthday this year and you’re invited to one of the pearls that make our nation’s landscape so beautiful. From Acadia National Park in Maine to Hawaii’s Volcanos National Park, the National Park Service protects the beauty of our natural resources.

Hawaii-volcanos

We honor them and their service during this celebration of 100 years of giving back to nature.

These servicemen and servicewomen face hazards daily to protect the natural wonders that belong to the world. Among them is one natural wonder unique to Hawaii.
You must visit the awe-inspiring lava flows that created the Islands over the centuries, and continue to shape and reshape our 50th state.
Plan to be there the week of April 16th through April 24th for a close up look at one of nature’s wonders.

The National Park Service at Hawaii Island

Our national parks are a precious resource. Their beauty, mesmerizing. Watch the sun rise in Hawaii for a natural lightshow you’ll recall forever – a lasting memory you’ll use often when the snow starts to fall back home. “Remember how warm it was?”
A trip to the wondrous beauty of Hawaii’s interior is one of the “must-sees” on your personal journey.
Whether you’re an early riser or an adventure-seeking night owl, a tour of Hawaii Volcanos National Park, up-close, looking down into a pool of boiling lava, is a “must-see” on your “must-do list.

National Park Week

There’s always something to do or see in Hawaii. You’ll stare in awe, and your kids will remember this day forever.
From April 16 through the 24th, National Park Week, admission to one of the natural wonders of the world, Hawaii Volcano National Park, is free for all. Book now to enjoy all the activities.
April 16th is also National Junior Ranger Day. Your kids will have a blast earning their own Junior Ranger Badge. Older participants who’ve demonstrated care in maintaining Hawaii’s natural wonder become Centennial Junior Rangers.

Earth Day

Earth Day falls on April 22, 2016 with more than one billion people around the world taking part in celebrating this day of respect for our home. Earth Day has become the world’s largest environmental event, and an opportunity to share the splendor of Hawaii with the entire family.
Teach your children to respect nature’s beauty, and pitch in to keep our national parks pristine and worthy of jaw-dropping awe.
You and your family can become part of the National Parks Service Volunteers-in-Parks at Hawaii Volcanos National Park. You’ll receive a badge to honor your commitment to keep our national treasures, like Hawaii Volcano National Park, pristine for future generations to enjoy.
Registered volunteers who give 201.6 hours of their free time to protect and maintain our parks between January 1, 2016 and December 31, 2016 can earn a Centennial Volunteer Challenge Coin – a tangible reminder of your commitment to maintaining the beauty of Hawaii Volcanos National Park, and the many other national parks across the country.

All you have to do is register as a volunteer, get your assignment, and dig in. You don’t have to be handy. There’s plenty of work that needs to be done, and by visiting Hawaii Volcanos National Park, you set your family on the path to a better, more beautiful world while helping others. Your volunteer time is a wonderful gift to share with others, and to sign on to become a parks volunteer, all you have to do is make the commitment to a better, cleaner healthier world.
